Grant Wilde
President & CEO

Grant Wilde

Grant Wilde is the President & CEO of Spartan Controls Ltd. He believes that being driven by meaning or purpose, consciously contributing, and bringing our personal energy to all we do, is key to living fulfilling and successful lives. He is proud of how Spartans are helping to create a sustainable modern world.  

Grant has held a variety of roles in his 29 year career at Spartan including; Business Group and Customer Segment executive leadership, sales, marketing, business unit management, and front line sales.

He is a current or past member for various private companies, advisory, and association boards including Emerson, the Strategic Growth Partners Network, the Business Council of Alberta, and is a past President of the Gas Processors Suppliers Association of Canada. 

Grant has been involved with executive development through the Queen’s School of Business, the Global Institute of Leadership Development (GILD) and the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is the author of the 'Leadership Equation™'. Grant is a professional Engineer and Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Alberta. He lives in Calgary with his wife and has two grown children.
Stephen Baird
VP, Business Enablement

Stephen Baird

Stephen joined Spartan in 2021 and leads the Business Enablement team. He has over 25 years of global experience advising and managing technology and SAP in both consulting and client roles. Prior to joining Spartan, Stephen held various leadership and consulting roles for companies such as KPMG, Agrium, Ernst & Young, Deloitte & IBM.

Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University (UK) in 1995 and lives with his wife in Calgary, Alberta.
Glenn Cherepak
VP, Process & Infrastructure

Glenn Cherepak

Glenn brings over 25 years of experience in the process automation industry with a passion for putting customers first. He has held several leadership roles within Spartan in sales, engineering, operations, and IT management. 

Glenn leads our teams in key industries including chemical, power, pulp & paper/forestry, minerals & mining, water/waste water, life science, food & bev/agri-tech, building tech, and renewable energy. Glenn is a graduate from the University of Manitoba with a BSc in Industrial Engineering.
Terrance Chmelyk
VP, Systems, Software & Solutions

Terrance Chmelyk

Terrance Chmelyk has over 30 years’ experience in the industrial automation, advanced process control (APC) systems and digital technology sector. He has held various leadership roles in operating companies, including roles of leading both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) teams that are focused on improving the operational performance and reliability in the industrial sector.

His passion continues to be generating sustainable business results for industrial customers through the innovative application of advanced technologies. His focus on sustainability is around driving a culture of innovation at Spartan, with an emphasis on 360 degree Innovation leadership and connecting new ideas to our Customer’s business outcomes. 
Tammy Gottschlich
VP, Operations - V&A, MI

Tammy Gottschlich

Tammy started her journey with Spartan Controls in 1990 as a Sales Coordinator. Through the various roles, Tammy built a foundation of operation knowledge and discovered her passion for delivering a differentiated customer experience and for process improvement. She has lead various teams at Spartan, such as Sales Coordinators, Total Customer Commitment team and most recently our Strategic Supply.. Her proven track record of providing exceptional customer service, and her ability to create a positive working environment, led her to be awarded the 2003 Spartan President’s Award.

Tammy leads the Edmonton Automation Centres, Spartan’s primary facilities for sales, strategic supply, distribution, production and service operations, and oversees the development of regional service centres.


Jennifer Henrey
Chief Financial Officer

Jennifer Henrey

Jennifer joined Spartan in 2008 and leads the Finance and Office Services teams. She has over 30 years' experience in finance and other various sectors. 
 
Jennifer graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1988 and became a designated Chartered Accountant in 1991. Prior to joining Spartan, Jennifer gained financial experience through positions at KPMG and Mountain Equipment Co-op.
Jim Parsons
VP, Oil & Gas

Jim Parsons

In Jim’s 30-year career, he has worked in the Industrial Process Automation and Controls, Telecommunications, and Information Technology industries.  Jim’s most recent executive roles prior to present, have included Vice President, Business Development with Spartan and Vice President, Canada for Emerson, Automation Solutions.   
 
Jim completed his business studies at the University of Winnipeg before relocating to Calgary in 1997 and continued his professional development at Queens School of Business, the Global Institute of Leadership Development (GILD), Emerson’s executive development program and other studies.
Patrick Payne
VP, Operations - Systems, Software & Solutions

Patrick Payne

Patrick has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas, oil sands, pulp and paper, water and wastewater, power generation, and pipeline industries. Patrick oversees all project delivery, engineering, manufacturing, strategic supply chain & procurement, quality & safety aspects of the customer outcomes Spartan delivers.
 
Patrick is a Graduate of a Master of Business Administration from Smith School of Business at Queen's University and Electrical Engineering Technology from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He lives in Calgary with his wife and has two children.
Susan Poynter
VP, Human Resources

Susan Poynter

A born and raised Albertan, Susan joined Spartan in 2009. She has extensive experience in human resource management across various industries and led the talent management team across the Strategic Growth Partners Network for several years. Susan has a great passion for developing talent and helping Spartans find their “right seat on the bus.”  She plays a key role in driving forward Spartan’s People, Well Being, and Community strategies within our sustainability framework.
 
Susan graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology Degree from the University of Calgary in 1986. She also completed executive development through Queen’s School of Business, Haskayne, and the Global Institute of Leadership Development (GILD).
Doug Ndegwa
VP, Valves & Actuation

Doug Ndegwa

Doug has over 22 years of experience in a variety of roles at Spartan including; business group executive leadership, sales and business unit management, front line sales, and systems engineering. He is Spartan’s environment sponsor.

Doug is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Alberta and has been involved with executive development through the Queen’s School of Business, the Global Institute of Leadership Development (GILD), and serves on Emerson advisory boards.
Adrian Vickers
VP, Oil Sands

Adrian Vickers

Adrian has over 25 years of experience in industrial automation and engineering. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Victoria, registered professional engineer in Alberta, and is a strong advocate for engaging academia and industry associations to support long term industry innovation and sustainability.

Adrian has held several sales, engineering, and contract management leadership roles at Spartan, and serves on an advisory board, along with committee engagements for the Strategic Growth Partners, Emerson Automation Solutions, and the University of Calgary. His passion is focused on enabling the most effective customer focused sales, support, and service to enhance local industrial operators achieve top quartile performance. Adrian has been involved with executive development through the Queens School of Business, Sauder School of Business, and the Global Institute of Leadership Development.
Chris Wilkinson
VP, Measurement Instrumentation

Chris Wilkinson

Chris leads the Measurement Instrumentation Business Group for Spartan Controls.  The businesses within the group are comprised of multiple technologies used for Level, Flow, Analytical, and Flow Computers/RTUs. The Measurement Business works with other Business Units within Spartan to deliver a variety of measurement solutions for industry. 
 
Prior to joining Spartan Controls, Chris worked in the upstream Oil & Gas industry with a well logging company where he held roles in International Projects, R&D, and Management.
 
Chris started his career as an Instrumentation Technologist.  Chris has complimented his career with multiple technology and business programs during his 35+ years in industry.
